Madeline Oketch: Called to Inspire a Generation

Student pastor, CITAM Woodley

My name is Madeline Oketch, and I serve at CITAM Woodley. I am currently a student pastor at Divine Providence Training Center (DPTC) in Matasia.

I realized my calling in 2022 during a Springboard Convention at CITAM Valley Road. A pastor was speaking about the words of Jesus: the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. He challenged us to ask ourselves, Where is the Lord calling you to serve in His vineyard?

I took that question personally and asked God, “Where are You calling me?”

The answer became clear: the younger generation—children and youth.

Today, I serve in children's ministry, teaching children the Word of God and connecting with them through activities such as dance. I have also had opportunities to travel to places including Kisumu, Bondo and Sori to share God's Word with children.

My ministry also extends to young people my own age. I have encountered young people who wanted to leave home and live life on their own, and I have been able to help restore relationships between them and their parents.

As I continue to grow in ministry, I am trusting God to work through me even more.

Over the next five years, I want to see a church filled with young people who are thirsty for the Word of God and energetic about serving Him with everything they have, even through the challenges and storms of life.

I have seen how easy it can be for young people to trust God when everything is going well but turn away when life becomes difficult. Through my own life and testimony, I want other young people to see something different:

God can be trusted.

That is the kind of faith I want to inspire in the next generation.
