Lucy: Called to Restore
Pastor in training, Nakuru
My name is Lucy, and I come from Nakuru. I am currently training as a pastor at Divine Providence Training Center (DPTC).
I began to realize that God was calling me to ministry when I would walk through the streets and see boys and children living there. I would find myself crying. Their situation had such an impact on my heart and soul that I began to feel God was calling me to care for them.
Then, in 2020, I went to a prayer mountain to pray. As I was praying for restoration, I felt God ask me, “Who is praying for the restoration of the street children?”
That was when I understood the ministry God was calling me to.
I opened a church in Nakuru where I minister to street children and street families. Since then, I have seen many young people begin to change. Children are being transformed. Young people are leaving drugs and coming back to God. Through this ministry, I have seen change in the lives of both young men and young women in the community.
My prayer is that in the next five years we will see even greater transformation—not only in the lives of individual children, but in entire families.
I want to see a community that has been deeply affected by drugs and alcohol transformed into a community for Christ. That is the prayer of my heart.
This is not an easy ministry, and that is one reason my training at DPTC is so important to me. I believe the training will give me the knowledge and preparation I need to better serve these children, their families and the community God has called me to.
